Keeping a Long-Running Stadium Sound System Going Strong

Mid States Audio & Video originally installed the sound system at Southwest Minnesota State University’s football field in 2008. Nearly two decades later, the system was still performing well overall, but the four large field speakers had reached the point where replacement was needed.

Replacing them was not exactly a ground-level service call. The speakers are mounted approximately 60 feet in the air beneath the stadium canopy, requiring lift access and careful coordination to remove the existing units and install the replacements safely.

Once the new field speakers were in place, the Mid States team retuned the system to make sure coverage and performance were back where they needed to be across the stadium.

What makes this project especially satisfying is the longevity of the original installation. Rather than replacing an entire system, Mid States was able to update the components that had reached the end of their useful life while keeping the rest of the system in service.
